In recent months, the site has seen an intensive use of Web Logs ("Blogs") and interaction with the public through Calls for Comments (CfCs). Our first web space in CfC form was the one conducted by Daniele Navarra in June of this year, entitled "Innovation, Social Risk and Political Responsibility". Since then we have used this channel for collective writing to address in a focused and collaborative way those issues that have turned out to be most significant as the site has developed. - More

The Call for Comments on Innovation, Social risk and Political Responsibility closed on 6 August. In the last intervention, Daniele Navarra, who conducted the initiative, pointed out that "the role of centres of excellence such as the Bassetti Foundation is as much to guarantee that policies that concern the community as a whole are implemented in a democratic and pluralistic manner, as to investigate, analyse and delineate problem areas, risks and difficulties in the various alternatives proposed, and to ensure that manoeuvres by lobbies and the media are filtered out of the process"... - More

As announced in the previous Diary, on 14 May 2003 Piero Bassetti, as President of the Foundation, gave a lecture at the London School of Economics on "Innovation, social risk and political responsibility": "(...) We rarely have a clear idea of the relationships between innovation, change, risk and responsibility. Only very occasionally do we consciously address the serious political problems that the management, or non-management, of innovation can engender.
