The Age Of The Genome
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the historic announcement [1] made by then president of the US Bill Clinton of the first sequencing of the human genome, BBC Radio 4 are broadcasting a series entitled The Age Of The Genome [2] conducted by evolutionary biologist Professor Richard Dawkins.
The first show (23rd June 2010) is currently available via podcast [3], and the remaining 3 shows will be broadcast on Wednesday evenings at 21.00 GMT and can be freely accessed through the BBC website [4] via their iPlayer.
In the first program the human genome is explained and many interesting questions are raised about the implications of this discovery, while the second will look at what can be learnt about human evolution through the analysis of both chimpanzee and fossilized neanderthal DNA.
